Inside the cosy pancake & lunch restaurant Hansel & Gretel with a lovely ambiance and atmosphere

On Saturday 15 and Sunday March 16 Pancake Restaurant Hansel & Gretel celibrated her grand OPENING. With more than 300 guests, this was a great and very successful event! But who are actually behind this Fairytales Food? Well, the leadership of these Magical Meals is in musical hands. Because Margareth and Erik Gommers gave themselves a new challenge after 25 years of professional 'music-making'. As "Music 2 You" they gave enthusiastic and passionate performances and with that same passion they have blown in new life into this "lake-side-restaurant".

After 7 weeks of renovation and adjustments you can admire an attractive restaurant with really beautiful and spacious terraces.It gives you the opportunity to look over the lake, or sit in front of the restaurant itself, or take place on the wooden tables of the intimiate "Forrest Terrace".

The special pancake-pans originally come from the Netherlands, but the "panquecas" are globally known and loved by many nationalities. Hence the name "Hansel & Gretel" has been selected, because this is in no less than 8 languages the same designation for the myth that you and I know as "Hansel & Gretel".Margareth the COOKING WITCH handles the scandalus delicious and addictive pancakes, so beware if you dare to come along……
In addition of these delicious pancakes you will find omelettes and baguettes in all sorts and variations, homemade soup (with Fairytale Fame), homemade applepie (with the compliments of Gretel).......and we don't even dare to speak about the delicious homemade icecream! All with a very personal touch and that special flavor........ the love for food & cooking!

The terrace is colourful with the possibility of 100 seats Enough space to sit in the sun or in the shade under the roof or one of the many umbrellas

Located at the reservoir of lake “Barragem da Bravura” 8 km north of Odiáxere/Lagos

Openinghours: daily from 11.00 'till 18.00 h, closed on Mondays. In July and August opened untill 19.00 h.

The lake or reservoir Barragem da Bravura gives many a splendid views

In the short term, "Hansel & Gretel" will organise various activities and events.

First of all various walking routes will be set out around parts of the lake (planned to be ready in the beginning of June 2008), where you can enjoy the beautiful nature and the quiet environment.There will also be some "routes with a catch" for both children and adults. Fun and exciting at the same time. There will be tracks of 1 hour, 2 hours and 3 hours walking in different directions. Picknicbaskets with surprising foodsupplies will be available.
Secondly, Margareth and Erik will performe LIVE MUSIC on their own terrace every THIRD SUNDAYAFTERNOON of every month. MUSIC to listen to, to sing along with and to dance on. And in the meantime you can have a drink or a wonderful meal (already some pancake flavors and the applepie are FAMOUS!). The next live music Sunday afternoon will be held on June 15th.
Thirdly, within the coming few months several old Dutch Games will be available on the terrace where you can enjoy a competing and hilarious time with groups or just a few friends (planned to be ready end of June). Being busy in an entertaining and fun way with some competative games is always a nice way to relax and enjoy with friends and family, both for young and old and it works miracles on the atmosphere!

Expect much more to come at "Hansel & Gretel" in the the next months, but for now you are cordially invited to the cozy sunday afternoon live music experience on Sunday June 15. LIVE MUSIC AFTERNOON:

First come... first served..... On this afternoon there will be a few nice offers (while supplies last). What these offers are is only reveiled on this afternoon, but you certainly will appreciate them. (Incidentally, the menu on this day is a little bit smaller than usual.)

We expect another large turnout so don´t be late! We start at 13.30 h. (You can also have lunch with us .....) There is ample parking at the large parking lot just in front of the terrace.

Barragem da Bravura is known for it´s beauty

roadmap to the restaurant, 8 km north of Odiaxere and Lagos

Route to Restaurant / Terrace Hansel & Gretel:

Drive on highway A22 in western direction (follow Lagos) and take exit 3 Odiaxere / Mexilhoeira. Roundabout straight ahead. Next roundabout right on the N125 direction Odiaxere and Lagos. After 2300 meters in the middle of the village of Odiaxere (at the third pedestrian-crossing lights) follow the signs "Barragem da Bravura", which is right. Drive out of the village of Odiaxere (which is only 400 meters) and follow the road with a bend to the left (follow sign "barragem"). Stay on this road for 8 kilometer (go straight and keep following the signs "Barragem"). Do not turn or go from this road. End of road is the Parking of the Reservoir and of Restaurant Hansel & Gretel.
